Tyler is an Altoona native and graduated from Altoona Area High School in 2012. Tyler is a 2019 graduate from Juniata College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work with an emphasis on Children and Multigenerational Families. He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Work. Tyler plans to pursue a Master of Social Work Degree in the next year from the University of Pittsburgh. In the meantime, Tyler plans to receive his License of Social Work soon. Tyler values the ability of the individual in practice. He believes that it is important for the individual to be empowered and motivated for work. Tyler also values equality when working with people and believes that each person has equal access, accountability and opportunities to services. He enjoys working with kids and seeing small accomplishments that lead to bigger successes. Tyler entered the field of social work to make a difference in other’s lives. Tyler states that he chose to enter the “helping” field because he would like for one day someone to say, “because of you, I didn’t give up”. When asked why he chose social work as a profession, Tyler tells them: “Because I am in for the outcome, not the income.” Outside of work, Tyler enjoys spending time with family and friends. Tyler is an avid horseman and has been riding horses since he was four. He enjoys spending as much time at the barn as he can and enjoys weekends spent at horse shows. Tyler also enjoys staying active, going hiking, and traveling. He also enjoys spending time with his Golden Retriever, Finn by attending obedience classes and playing ball. Tyler lives by the quote: “It’s a good day to have a good day”.
