Alexis Zanaglio - BA Criminology
FACE IT Counselor
Evolution Counseling Services, LLC.
Alexis Zanaglio is a behavioral health professional, educator, and artist who believes that every child has a unique way of experiencing, understanding, and expressing the world around them. Her work is rooted in connection, creativity, and the belief that children deserve to feel genuinely seen, heard, and understood.
Alexis earned her bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with minors in Psychology and Forensic Biology. Her education provided her with a multidisciplinary foundation for understanding human behavior, development, and the many experiences that shape us.
After graduating, Alexis moved to Tucson, Arizona, where she began working in behavioral health and child welfare with the State of Arizona. Through this work, she supported children and families through crisis response, intake assessments, case management, family engagement, and multidisciplinary care. She also provided psychosocial rehabilitation services for children and adults, incorporating art and creative expression to support communication, emotional exploration, skill development, and connection.
Her experience eventually expanded into education, where she spent two years working in a Waldorf school environment, teaching art and emotional expression. Working across mental health, education, and creative spaces has shaped Alexis’s belief that there is no single way for a child to communicate, learn, or heal. She believes that creativity can offer children another language for exploring their inner world, building connection, and discovering parts of themselves that may not always have words.
Alexis approaches her work with warmth, curiosity, and a trauma-informed, strengths-based perspective. She believes that healing is not about changing who a child is, but creating a space where they can better understand themselves, recognize their strengths, develop healthy ways of navigating difficult experiences, and feel empowered to grow into who they are becoming. For Alexis, meaningful work begins with relationship: creating a space where children feel safe enough to be themselves, supported enough to explore, and valued for who they already are.
Outside of her work, Alexis is a lifelong artist who finds inspiration in nature, creativity, and the endless curiosity of being human. She believes creativity can open doors to parts of ourselves that words sometimes cannot reach, and she loves finding ways to bring that sense of curiosity, compassion, and possibility into her work with children and families.
